Springfield Center for Dyslexia and Learning is a 501(c)3, educational not-for-profit serving people with significant reading, spelling and writing difficulties, including people with dyslexia.

Advocacy

If you aren't sure how to work with your school and advocating for your child, we would be more than happy to attend your meeting and help.  We can explain what will happen and be at the meeting to take notes as well as advocate for your child.  This service fee is $50/hour.  We screen students ages 4 - 21 years old for the trade marks of dyslexia.  This is NOT a diagnosis of dyslexia, that would need to come from a neuropsychologist.

Screening

We screen students ages 4 - 21 years old for the trade marks of dyslexia. We are NOT able to provide a formal diagnosis of dyslexia.

Our screening fee is $85

We are able to help you with a list of several neuropsychologists in the Springfield area that are qualified to test for and diagnose dyslexia.

Education/Inservice

We provide a small group or a district with our Dyslexia Defined presentation.  It covers the history of dyslexia, myths and facts, symptoms, and accommodations and teaching techniques. This  two hour presentation is $300 for a maximum of 50 attendees, plus mileage.

Dyslexia Simulation

This can be used by individuals or groups of experienced teachers, teacher training candidates, practitioners, immediate and extended family members, or anyone interested in learning more about dyslexia and what those with dyslexia often experience with reading, writing and processing. We walk participants through five different simulations: two reading, two writing and one processing simulation. This simulation is designed to help individuals gain a better understanding of and empathy for those children and adults who struggle with dyslexia.  This presentation takes anywhere from one to two hours.

The fee for this presentation is $300 for a maximum of 50 attendees, plus mileage.

We also offer a simulation along with the Dyslexia Defined presentation that lasts approximately 4 hours for a discounted rate of $550 for a maximum of 50 attendees, plus mileage.

For groups larger than 50 attendees or for information regarding our full day Dyslexia workshop in your district, please contact Noel@scdlmo.com for more information.
